Starting out in the photo booth industry can be a very daunting journey, yet at the same time it can be very rewarding. With so many options available on the market for photo booth styles, software, props and also marketing strategies, no two photo booth companies have to be the same.

Booth Junkie is alternative software available to install on traditional photo booths, magic mirrors, selfie pods, and photo kiosks. It has been under development for the past 9 months and constantly has new features and options added to it. The custom workflow – interact with the rest of your equipment

The main thing that makes this possible, is the custom workflow editor – allowing you to specify exactly what the software does at any given point. If you want to control some external lighting whilst taking a photo, you can set that up within a few clicks, or maybe turn on a wind machine or confetti canon just before the photo is taken to capture a unique action shot. You can even have a light up printer stand illuminate when sending photos to an external printer.

Let me give you an example of how you can quickly turn a £500 booking into a £600 booking for hardly any extra effort. For this example, let us assume that you have a client who would like you to attend their wedding from, for example, 7pm-10pm. They may be having their sit down meal from 6pm-7pm so don’t want you setting up whilst having their meal and speeches – quite understandable, but you will get it from time to time.

Now, what if you suggest that you start setting up from 5pm, and have the equipment in place by 6pm? That would ensure that the equipment is ready for when it is required, and that the guests at the event are not disturbed during their meal. Now comes the clever part – you offer this additional hour at a discounted rate compared to your normal hourly rate, and explain that the photo booth will not be fully functional until the 7pm start time.

However, during the hour prior to the start, it will be running an interactive game which will help keep children occupied during the important wedding speeches, and assist in their event running smoothly without any disruption from the smaller guests.

Using this simple tip, you have the chance to showcase the capabilities of your equipment, give the impression that you are going the extra mile for your client which ultimately equates to a better service from you, and you earn extra income on the booking for minimal effort. Winner!

Booth Junkie tries to help take some of that workload away from you by allowing you to automatically upload your events photos directly to an online gallery which your clients can access on their mobile devices – allowing them to instantly view and share their images.

By using this online gallery, any images shared via Facebook can include your company or brand name, which results in a very effective method of free advertising and helps spread awareness of your brand. Likewise, emails can be personalised to be sent from your company address, or with your own company name and custom message included. You can also collect users email addresses via the online gallery – assuming the user gives permission for this.

If you have a Facebook page for your business, you can even have Booth Junkie automatically upload all of the event photos to a Facebook Album – encouraging users to visit your Facebook page and share the photos amongst their friends directly from your page, resulting in free exposure and helping to build your online social presence. It can almost be considered free advertising and can help your page go viral very quickly if utilised right.

Top tip: If a user shows excitement when viewing their printout, or you see a guest taking a photo of their printout on their mobile device, politely let them know that they can find a copy of it on your Facebook page and share it from their directly – let them know it will be a much nicer image if shared from the Facebook album as opposed to photographing the printout on their phone. Instant social traffic!
